From a rather chilly Canberra, we
headed down to the coast, towards Batemans Bay, where we booked into the Big 4
at South Durras for the first of our 3 day stop overs, as we made our way back
up to Sydney.
The Shoalhaven coastline, all the way
from Batemans Bay, up to Kiama, was lovely, affording us numerous great walks
around bays and beaches, along cliffs overlooking the Pacific/Tasman sea, and
around numerous lakes and inlets. We found any number of places where in a
different lifetime, we would have been only too happy to put down roots!
From South Durras, we explored
Batemans Bay, the Murramurang National Park, Bawley Point and Pretty Beach.

Mountain, returning via Berry, to spend
time in Kiama itself, and a day driving up to Shellharbour and Lake Illawarra.

On our return trip to Sydney, we took

Bridge, which opened in 2005.
We drove back to Parramatta, to return our great
little Getz, where Et picked us up once again, to spend our last couple of days
with them in Glenhaven.

The next blog will cover the
consequences of the storm that welcomed us back to New Zealand, and ask some of
the questions relating to where exactly the buck stops….. “act of God….or human
error?”
